St. Johns Special Recognition Schedule

The doors remain locked through the end of May per the Governor’s social distancing and safe sheltering orders. However, weekend services will be streamed via Facebook Live. Service will be broadcast live at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday, and the recording may be watched later. Check the current posts to view past and current services.

The May service schedule will include special recognitions which have been annual traditions. We will not be able to have people physically present due to the restrictions. However, we have adapted the services and may include additional pictures and graphics as we are able and as they have been supplied to us. The service schedule will include:

May 3 – Worship leader and preacher, Austin Pendry

May 10 – Mothers’ Day

May 17 – Rogation Sunday (Blessing of Seeds, Soil & Water) as we celebrate God’s gifts and providing through agriculture and recognize our local farmers

May 24 – Cap & Gown Sunday – recognizing High School graduates and post high school graduates (vocational or trade school, associate degrees, community college or university degrees including bachelor or graduate degrees). We invite people to send in names to be included in the recognition along with photos and brief bios of future plans, whether additional education or career plans.

May 24 – Recognition of veterans and some patriotic hymns (as Memorial day is on Monday, May 25)

May 31 – Pentecost celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit, and service will likely include an affirmation of baptism. The public Confirmation service will likely be postponed until such time as we are able to reopen our doors for public gatherings to worship and celebrate God’s gifts of His Holy Word & Sacraments. We are continuing to proclaim the Word of God through means of the streaming platforms and the recorded postings on Facebook and our web page.

May 3 will be an opportunity for training and expanding our Technology Team for our ongoing outreach to share God’s love through our video and audio broadcasting services. We also wish to thank John Tammen for his assistance in exploring options for improving our video and audio transmission.
